Kanwal Malik — The House on MM Alam Road That Dresses Pakistan's Wedding Season
CELE's Lahore Issue goes inside the Gulberg studio founded in 2018 — the method, the colour code, the craft, Seera Bridals '26 and the groom's side.

She did not chase the trend. She dressed the occasion.
This is the blog edition of our Autumn 2026 Lahore Issue on Kanwal Malik. Ten chapters, in the issue's own order.

The Designer
The Designer
Kanwal Malik founded her Lahore house in 2018 and earned its name fast, on lavish silhouettes and richly detailed evening and bridal wear. By 2020 the label had a studio of its own on MM Alam Road, Gulberg; today it runs bridal couture, luxury formals, luxury pret, silk, lawn and menswear, plus the Kanwal Malik Foundation. The style: maximal embellishment on a disciplined cut. Court silhouettes — pishwas, gharara, angrakha — brought to a modern waist and sleeve, then loaded with adda, dabka and zardozi so the piece reads across a courtyard.

How she works
How She Works
Made to order: every bridal piece is cut to the client in the Lahore atelier, by artisans working techniques handed down through generations. 48-hour dispatch: a ready-to-ship edit sits beside couture. Mehndi, baraat, walima: one silhouette per function, one hand across all three. Lahore to the diaspora: ships to the UAE, GCC, UK and USA, with UK stockists and campaigns shot on the streets of London. Collections named as women — Seera, Shehnai, Sajni, Mirha, Jahanara. Both sides of the aisle: Shahveer and Monarche dress the groom in the same register as the bride. The colour code: jewel tones for the night, powder for the day after, and the signature clash — shocking pink beside gold.

The house
The House
Bridal couture to luxury pret, silk to lawn, and a menswear line — one hand, every occasion, on MM Alam Road, Gulberg.

The craft
The Craft. All of It by Hand.
Adda work: sequin, bead and pearl, set stitch by stitch. Dabka and zardozi: coiled metal thread, raised off the cloth. Badla on tissue: flat metal strip through tissue silk. Gota and zari: ribbon trims and woven brocade grounds. Cutwork appliqué: laser-cut motifs on pastel grounds.

The silhouette
The Silhouette
Pishwas, gharara, saree — court shapes with a modern waist. Angrakha and the front-open gown fill the space between.

The palette
The Palette
Jewel tones for the night. Pastels for the day after. Regal red, plum, rust, olive, powder blue, ice blue, shocking pink, nude ivory. Ivory is never quite white.

The wedding party
The Wedding Party
Olive and marigold, cut from the same hand — the bride's sisters dressed to match, never to compete.

Seera Bridals '26
Seera Bridals '26
The red that every bride asks for. Regal red, gold zardozi, a trained gharara and a veil that reads from the far end of the courtyard — the baraat look, made to be photographed once and remembered for a generation.

The groom's side
The Groom's Side · Shahveer Menswear '26
The house dresses both sides of the aisle. Two registers for the groom: the black self-textured sherwani, cut close through the shoulder and long through the body, embellishment held to a single line at collar and cuff — and the Jamal, an ivory short jacket carrying the full handwork over a lightly embroidered kurta. The same discipline as the bridal work, inverted: where she is maximal, he is the frame.
X — The Verdict
She did not chase the trend. She dressed the occasion.
